MEMBER MATTERS
NASP 2015 Election Results Your votes in the NASP 2015 election are in, and congratulations go to Melissa Reeves, who has been elected President-Elect 2015–2016 and President 2016–2017. Eighteen state delegates were also elected, whose terms will begin in July. Congratulations to all of our 2015–2018 delegates! Special congratulations to our new Florida Delegate-elect Dr. Angela Mann from the University of North Florida whose term begins July 1, 2015!
Homework & Social–Emotional Health The social–emotional health of students is moving to the forefront of attention at a time when there are also intense demands on youth in their academics, including an increased focus on grades, standardized test scores, and larger amounts of assigned homework. NASP FEATURES
School Violence Prevention NASP has updated our position statement on school violence prevention to reflect the association's support for common sense, evidence-based gun safety policies relevant to the well-being of children and youth. NASP supports efforts to reduce violence in schools and communities at large that include strategies for eliminating inappropriate youth access to firearms, strategies to keep guns out of the hands of those who would harm students, and school policies which ensure that the only armed persons at schools are highly trained professionals (e.g., school resource officers).
