The FASP Advocacy Academy will take place on March 3rd from 8:30a-3p at the Techo Hall on the campus of the University of South Florida with a social to follow. Register now for the inaugural FASP Advocacy Academy on March 3rd at USF here! 
TENTATIVE AGENDA:  
  • 8:30-9 AM                 Breakfast + Networking
  • 9-9:30 AM                 FASP Advocacy Introduction Overview and Objectives
  • 9:30-10:30 AM          Advocacy 101 with Dr. Kelly Vaillancourt, NASP Director of Policy & Advocacy
  • 10:45 AM-12:15 PM  Building and Strengthening Family-School Partnerships with Dr. Andy Garbacz, Associate                                                Professor at UW-Madison
  • 12:15-1 PM               Lunch + Networking
  • 1-2 PM                      A Tiered Approach to Advocacy with Dr. Katie Eklund, Associate Professor at UW-Madison         
  • 2-2:30 PM                 FASP's Legislative Priorities with Dr. Nate von der Embse & Dr. Angela Mann, Co-Chairs of FASP                                       Public Policy & Professional Relations Committee
  • 2:30-3 PM                 Small Group Personal Action Planning + Q&A
  • 4:30 PM                    Social @ 7venth Sun Brewery 6809 N Nebraska Ave. Tampa, FL
TRAVEL:  
Although breakfast and lunch are included for all participants, there are a limited number of travel scholarships (up to $500) available to students and early career professionals to help with covering additional meals. 
We have secured a discounted room rate of $179/night at the Holiday Inn at Tampa North and have a limited number of USF graduate student hosts willing to house fellow graduate students.
COST: 
$5 per participant to secure your spot.  All funds will be donated to the FASP Children's Services Fund, Inc.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: 
Your participation in the FASP Advocacy Academy makes you part of the 2023 FASP Advocates cohort.  We will be in touch with you throughout the 2023 legislative session to help us spread the word about advocacy campaigns.  Additionally, you will be invited to travel to Tallahassee for the 2024 legislative session with the FASP Public Policy & Professional Relations Committee.  Limited funds will be available to support your travel.
